Scottsdale, AZ

The Padre Course at Camelback Golf Club in Scottsdale belongs to the JW Marriott Camelback Inn. Arthur Hills rebuilt it from the old resort course around 2000, with a new green, tee and bunkers on every hole and some holes rerouted. It does not look like typical desert golf. Large mature trees line a parkland layout that winds through a neighborhood, with strategic bunkering and square tees. The fairways are forgiving, but the approaches ask for accuracy. It is open to resort guests and the public, and shares the club with the Ambiente course.

Angel Fire, NM

Angel Fire Country Club is the golf course at Angel Fire Resort in Angel Fire, New Mexico, playing at roughly 8,600 feet in the southern Rocky Mountains. The 18-hole, par-72 layout stretches to about 6,670 yards and was designed by Lebus and Paul Ortiz, opening in 1961. The front nine winds through aspen- and pine-covered canyons, while the back nine takes on a links-style character with smaller greens and heavier bunkering. The course is part of the resort's Country Club facility, which is open seasonally from spring through fall.

Mesa, AZ

Dobson Ranch Golf Course is a municipal 18-hole golf course in Mesa, Arizona, designed by Robert "Red" Lawrence and Jeff Hardin and opened in 1974 on land once part of the Dobson family ranch. The course was given to the City of Mesa by Continental Homes and anchors a master-planned community; the former Dobson family home now houses the course's Ranch House restaurant. It is tree-lined and known locally as one of the East Valley's long-standing municipal tracks.
