Henderson Golf Club is located outside downtown Savannah, Georgia, on county-owned land with live oaks draped in Spanish moss, magnolias, pines and wetlands lining the fairways. The front nine plays over more open, rolling ground while the back nine tightens up among the trees. Architect Mike Young designed the 18-hole course, which opened in 1995 and is owned by Chatham County. After falling into disrepair, the county took over direct management around 2016 and has since invested in bunker rehabilitation and new carts to bring conditions back up. Henderson plays to a par of 71 and stretches to about 6,650 yards from the back tees, with five sets of tees available. It operates as a public course with discounted rates for seniors, military members and county residents.

Bishop, GA

Lane Creek Golf Club is a public course located just outside Athens, Georgia, in the community of Bishop. It originally opened in 1992 and was designed by Athens area architect Mike Young. The layout was renovated in 2006 with new Champion Bermuda greens, rebuilt and repositioned bunkers, and a few design tweaks, including changing the fifth hole from a par 5 to a short par 4. The course plays to a par of 71 at around 6,678 yards from the back tees, with an even mix of short, tempting par 4s and longer two shot holes, plus par 3s that mostly avoid water hazards. Lane Creek is open daily to public play, with a practice facility that includes a large tee area, target greens, and a putting green, along with a pro shop and clubhouse patio.
