Gold Mountain Golf Club (Cascade)

Bremerton, WA

The Cascade Course is one of two 18-hole layouts at Gold Mountain Golf Club, a city-owned facility in Bremerton, Washington on the Kitsap Peninsula. It opened in 1971 and was designed by architect Ken Tyson, giving it a longer history than its sibling, the Olympic Course, which shares the same clubhouse and property. The setting is wooded, with tall Pacific Northwest timber framing most holes. Cascade plays through tree-lined fairways with generous driving areas and greens considered forgiving compared to Olympic's more demanding complexes. Terrain is relatively flat with minimal elevation change, making it a walkable course. From the back tees it stretches to roughly 6,775 yards. Gold Mountain is owned by the City of Bremerton, and tee times are open to anyone. The course is a friendly, approachable complement to Olympic, suitable for golfers of varying skill levels.

Madrona Links Golf Course

Gig Harbor, WA

Madrona Links Golf Course is located on the Kitsap Peninsula near Gig Harbor, Washington, close to the Tacoma Narrows. The course sits on land the City of Tacoma leased for golf development in the late 1970s. The course was designed and built by Ken Tyson and opened to the public in 1978. Tacoma later sold the land to PenMet Parks in 2008, which continues to operate Madrona Links as a public golf course while a long-running lease and property dispute involving an adjoining parcel has played out in recent years. Madrona Links has one of the larger men's and women's club memberships in the area and hosts regular member tournaments alongside public play. It plays to a par of 71, with a longest yardage of about 6,000 yards, and includes a restaurant and lounge as well as banquet facilities.
