John Cassell II

Charlotte, NC

The Tradition Golf Club is located in northeast Charlotte, North Carolina, near University Research Park, on rolling, tree-lined ground cut from dense hardwoods. Eleven water hazards, including lakes and streams, come into play across the layout. The course was designed by John Cassell II and opened for play in 1996. Three fairways are dogleg holes while the rest play straightaway, and the bentgrass greens range from undulating to fairly flat, putting an emphasis on approach shot accuracy. The course operates as a daily-fee public facility with a 5,400-square-foot clubhouse, dining space and a golf shop. Practice areas include a driving range, two putting greens and two practice bunkers, and the course plays to about 6,978 yards from the back tees.
