Beau Rivage Golf and Resort in Wilmington plays over rolling pine and dune ground near the Cape Fear River, with elevation changes of up to 75 feet, unusual for the coast. Joe Gessner designed the 18-hole course, which opened in 1988. Fairways are Bermuda and the greens are ultradwarf Bermuda. On-site lodging makes stay-and-play packages possible, and the course is open to the public year-round.
