Nags Head, NC

Nags Head Golf Links is a golf course on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, sited along the Roanoke Sound in the town of Nags Head. Designed by Chapel Hill-based architect Bob Moore, it opened in the late 1980s and was built in the Scottish links tradition, using rolling dunes and native sea grasses to separate tees and greens rather than trees. Coastal winds are a defining factor, with its length playing longer than the scorecard suggests. Several holes run along the sound, offering water views, while the course's dune-buffered layout has shifted somewhat over the decades as the sandy terrain naturally eroded and moved. Nags Head Golf Links operates as a public facility popular with Outer Banks visitors and residents, and is grouped with other regional courses such as its sister property, The Currituck Club, under the same operating company.

San Ramon, CA

The Bridges Golf Club opened in 1999 as the golf centerpiece of the Gale Ranch community in San Ramon, California, in the East Bay about 35 miles from San Francisco. Former U.S. Open champion Johnny Miller designed the course with architect Damian Pascuzzo, working under the Robert Muir Graves firm, routing play through small canyons below Mount Diablo. The original layout was demanding enough that architect Jay Blasi led a 2013 renovation removing more than 80 bunkers to improve playability. Barrancas and forced carries remain a feature, with the par of 72 stretching to about 6,861 yards from the back tees over rye grass greens. The Bridges is a daily-fee public course with a Mediterranean-style clubhouse, carts included in green fees, and a regular schedule of weddings and tournaments alongside golf.

Pittsboro, NC

The Golf Club at Chapel Ridge sits on about 790 acres of rolling countryside in Pittsboro, North Carolina, within a golf course community near Chapel Hill and the Research Triangle. Bob Moore of JMP Golf Design worked with Fred Couples on the course layout, which opened as Pittsboro's first golf course. The 18-hole course plays to a par of 72 and stretches to roughly 7,116 yards from the back tees, laid across rolling hills reminiscent of older traditional American courses. Chapel Ridge is open to the public, with a clubhouse grille, practice range and short-game area, and it offers memberships along with outing and event hosting.

Beaufort, NC

The Beaufort Club is a public course in Beaufort, on the Crystal Coast. The 18-hole layout plays through the maritime forest near the sound, a friendly course that welcomes visitors to one of North Carolina's oldest towns.

Snow Hill, NC

Cutter Creek Golf Club in Snow Hill is a semi-private 18-hole course designed by Bob Moore that opened in 2008. It stretches to 7,280 yards from the back tees, with five sets of tees on each hole. The club takes daily public play and has a driving range, short game area, pool and grill.

Grandy, NC

The Carolina Club in Grandy is a public 18-hole course on the mainland side of the Outer Banks. Russell Breeden and Bob Moore designed it, and it opened in 1998. The course measures about 7,000 yards with bentgrass greens and Bermuda fairways, and a par-3 island green stands out. Wind off the water often changes how holes play. It is open year-round and has a bar and grill.

Clayton, NC

Pine Hollow Golf Club in Clayton, southeast of Raleigh, is an 18-hole, par-71 course measuring 6,583 yards. Bob Moore handled a recent renovation. It is semi-private, takes daily-fee play, and has a driving range, putting green and lessons.

Sneads Ferry, NC

North Shore Golf Course in Sneads Ferry is a Bob Moore design that opened in 1988 near the Intracoastal Waterway. The 18-hole course reaches 6,866 yards from the back tees through marsh and tall pines. It is semi-private, takes public play and has a driving range.

Wake Forest, NC

Heritage Golf Club in Wake Forest, about ten minutes north of Raleigh, is a Bob Moore design that opened in 2001. The par-72 course runs about 7,016 yards over rolling, wooded ground with Champion Bermuda greens. It is a certified Audubon sanctuary. The club takes public play and has a restaurant and driving range.
