Chester Golf Club

Chester, SC

Chester Golf Club sits in rural Chester County, six miles west of Interstate 77 and within reach of Charlotte and Columbia. Russell Breeden designed it and it opened in 1971. It plays to about 6,800 yards from the back tees, with tree-lined Bermuda fairways and large TifEagle greens. The par-5 12th is the hole people talk about. It needs two shots over water, and the green has water on three sides. It is public, run by the Leroy Springs group, and memberships carry no initiation fee.
